I will be negotiating with BUF and BUF alone. Ryan sat there on my trade block for a good week with sparse interest. I agree that we were focused on dispersal picks, but there were whole days between picks basically so I am not going to accept that excuse given this league is a hardcore group. Forgetting even that just mentioning Ryan's name in a PM to me without doing any further research until now would have signalled stronger demand. disapointing given nobody could trade until today.

I was receiving PM's about other guys that I had placed on my trade block all week. Ryan's name came up twice, once rather casually and the other from BUF.

Can we at least have a window of opportunity to fix whatever allegedly needs fixing? I DO NOT appreciate GMs saying he should get this or that from me when you're not the one making the trade Start paying fair market value for 27 yr old 30 goal scorers and you won't have these problems.

Not to belabour the point since the decision has been made already, but Ryan has 34 goals in his last 116 games. 24G/82 pace.

its interesting how little people think about ryan who own him. I had this in 2 other leagues.. heres the facts: while he isn't an awesome stat guy right now remember that he was playing in ANA where he didn't have good linesman and he was second duty PPP for the most part. They few rarely put him with getz and perry. in Ott he gets more changes to play with better linesmans and PP time.
the other thing everyone forgets is that he was drafted 2nd overall and if it wasn't for being in CROSBY's class he would have been first overall pick. that's nothing small to look at.

Sorry NJD, I will disagree with that in its entirety.
#1 fantasy hockey is purely about stats, people think little about him because he's a non-factor in at least half the chosen categories.
#2 his draft slot 9 years ago is 100% irrelevant. Benoit Pouliot went #4 and Gilbert Brule went #6. Habs fans were mad that they selected Price at #5.

His own mentor, Brian Burke, basically reduced him to tears with his critiques while selecting the USA Olympic team.

He's an above average winger IMO who contributes in most of our counting stats except for maybe SHP and FOW. He's on the right side of 30 and is a perennial threat to score 30 goals.

Don't forget H+B. He can't spell intense. But you're right, I'm assuming he'll have a very solid 2014-15 in his contract year. The year that won't matter when I'm in the bottom half of this league anyway. When he cashes his big contract next summer and slumps again in 2015-16, we'll revisit the Bobby Ryan fan club.

Lol, yeah forgot about the H+B as well. I'm not really a fan, I actually traded him away in this league two years ago now I believe but I do think that he's above average and is a valuable piece to own.

He's most certainly valuable, but I didn't trade 1986 Gretzky either.
I think the reaction was a bit overdramatic.

Why forget about h&b he put up 100 hits last year. That's not bad at least I don't think it is?

He tied for 279th in H+B last year.

really.. yeah I don't know much about those stats. in another league we have those split so for a winger to put up 50+ points and 100 hits id see more valuable. but yeah gotta look at league specific

I don't believe the reaction was completely unwarranted, I think the biggest problem that people had with the deal was that a player like Ryan, a young winger that is a threat to score 30 goals on a regular basis, being traded for a couple of, arguably, no name prospects and a pick which will likely turn out to be late 3rd round in the mid 50's and the chances of acquiring a decent prospect that late are pretty slim.
When I say no name I don't mean they're not any good I mean they're not of the blue chip variety. I know prospects are a crap shoot, no one knows how they will turn out but Yakimov and Cehlarik who I don't believe are even in the top 10 of their respective teams prospects is no where near enough value for Ryan IMO.
