PITTSBURGH sends:
Darcy Kuemper
OTTAWA sends:
Pekke Rinne Laurent Brossoit
I was not looking to move Kuemper and had a ton of people try prying him from me. I believe he is a star in the making, but I am going for it now and prefer a vet to solidify my tending. For all I know, Rinne may be on his last leg, so a young tender with upside was needed for me to send this young, budding stud. Friggin' OTT Is becoming one of the younger, scarier teams.
Good talk!

Ottawa confirms. Been after Kuemper for a while now, happy to finally get him. Rinne did not fit the team, Kuemper does.

Wait what?? I'm sorry but how is OTT adding to this. Rinne less value than kuemper??

There was no market for Rinne. And I value Kuemper highly, I like Brossiot but do you even know who he is?

I understand the "fear" in Rinne and I am all for paying when you want something (Huberdeau deal Kane deal etc)
Just hope OTT gut is right about Kuemper. Steep steep price for a potential back up.
Hope it works for both sides

Considering how serious Rinne's injury was , no way was I moving a young tender for him straight up. There is significant risk with taking him on, IMO. His injury very well may be something he battles with the rest of his career. I hope I am wrong, but I may be right. Brossoit is a promising prospect, but he is just that. Goalie prospects take quite some time to develop. He is not a guaranteed thing. That's just my piece.

I agree with Dave. Hard to believe Rinne's value has dropped to the point where you have to add to him to get a kid who hasn't proven anything in the league. I like Kuemper as much as the next guy but I don't see him as an equal, or in this case, greater value then a guy like Rinne, who heading into last season was probably recognized as a top 5 fantasy goalie.
As far as a market for Rinne goes, I had no idea he was even being shopped.
Sorry Blake but I think you got took on this one. I hope you are right about both Rinne and Kuemper, but I just dont see it.

He was on my trade block for a period of time and I even reached out to some teams that had pieces I was looking for. I was looking for a young goaltender. Couldn't get anything I liked. End of the day I'm not concerned whether team a or b things I got took. Would I have liked to get more back for Rinne sure but I'm happy with the trade. Rinne didn't fit my team and I wanted Kuemper. Again I like Brossiot but his value at this point is very little.

End of the day this seems to be apre advanced league so fr talking to both Blake and Ian in my own trade talks they seem to have a decent hockey knowledge. Each to their own

Its your team dude, do as you see fit. I just think you overpaid for a young goalie. www.tbim.proboards.com/thread/480/ottawa-senators-trading-blockYour trade block, last updated April 27th. I dont see Rinne on there anywhere. No matter as I dont own a young goalie that you would want, but who knows who else may have. At the end of the day, as long as you are happy with the return then thats what important.

I think we've all missed out on some player an a variety of ways, and it SUCKS! I can tell you all that I've reached out to several GMs trying to get another goalie. My preference was to stay young and not get older. Blake offered up Rinne before, and wanted Kuemper PLUS. I turned it down because I have a real fear of Rinne's hip. I don't care how good a guy is, if he doesn't play he is USELESS. For me, I wanted some youth back and felt a prospect, albeit a good one, was not a lot to ask for. Brossoit is playing well, but he could faulted and never make it to the NHL which could leave me with Kuemper for Rinne straight, which I did not feel comfortable with. Not only that, I'm sure other, Luke, for example, can attest to how hard it is to move a 30yr old goalie. My taking Rinne on beside his hip doesn't bode well if I want to trade him moving forward . I don't think there is a slam dunk here either way. I will say this, we both prefer Kuemper to Rinne or Brossoit. That much is obvious, so I feel the trade stands on it's own two.

I have no problem taking on a 30 year old goalie (obviously when I acquired Anderson) or skater. I am not sure why people think that once a player turns 30 that they have no value or are simply not worth owning anymore. I used to have that mentality, then I soon learned differently that it was not the case at all.

Like I said he was up there for a period of time. I payed in the shout box I reached out to some teams. I wasn't able to make a deal and was planning on going ahead with Rinne. Until Pittsburgh contact me about Kuemper.
I agree I overpaid but I'm willing to for a player I want. See Kadri, RNH, Green.

Funny because after I had a few asking about Kuemper, I was set to do the same and happily ride with him, then, as I always do just b4 I am ready to throw in the towel - I'll reach out to a GM who inquired and I may not have had success with initially. In the end, like Blake, I have over-payed for players I believe in. I think most would. But if you don't try, you never know. Crazy thing is my block specifically states that I am not discussing Kuemper partly b/c I had a vision of him being on my team long term. Other part is I didn't like a lot of the offers sent . In the end, it's a roll of the dice. I am competing, an older goalie makes sense. He's building, so younger makes sense. But Blake met my other need which was "some" upside.

Since when do people under value 30 year old goalies?? As the saying goes a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush... Kuemper is still very much in the bush imo... This sucks pretty bad because I've been searching for a starter since joining the league. Was very close to getting Lehtonen now this... depressing... I didn't known Rinne was available, but I have no backup tenders... oh wait, yes I do. But as long as each party are happy, then, no harm no foul.
