Buffalo wanted to add to the goalie depth and create a three-headed monster of starting goalies. The price was steep with three really good/great prospects, all with a good chance of creating some impact in the NHL in the future, but Mason is more immediate help.
I think Mason is starting to figure things out and is still only 25, with a few more years on a very good Flyers team, so the gamble was worth it for me.
Ortio could be the starter one day for the Flames, although will start as the backup. Granlund looks promising to take on a top 6 role shortly, and Grigorenko is the wild card where he could be a stud or a KHLer.
