Winnipeg sends:
G Ben Scrivens - TOR Montreal's 5th (previously acquired via Columbus)
Detroit sends:
D Jake Muzzin - LA G Martin Biron - NYR
Jets lose a solid young goaltender but with Semyon Varlamov on the team and Jordan Binnington, Scott Wedgewood, etc. on the farm I felt Scrivens was expandable. In exchange for Scrivens and a 5th rounder (I had an abundance of 5th rounders), I get a very good, young defenseman with a ton of upside and a serviceable backup goaltender.
Jets accept and will release defenseman Kevin Klein to make room for the extra roster player when Yahoo allows me to do so.

Detroit agrees to this deal. Needed a backup while Greiss is on the mend. Got skunked last week in goalie stats so getting a goaltender was essential and feel Scrivens should have a somewhat promising backup career in the NHL whether its it TO or elsewhere. Muzzin I feel is a sell high candidate and acquiring goaltenders in this league is not cheap.
Pleasure doing business with Winnipeg as everybody knows he is easy to deal with!!
