To Ottawa
Nazem Kadri CHI 2014 2nd round pick
To Chicago
Sean Monahan Alex Chiasson PIT 2014 1st round pick
Was excited when Monahan was available at #8, and it's not easy to give him up this quickly. But I believe it's worth it for Kadri. This deal gets me closer to where I want to be. Chiasson is a gonna make a name for himself soon, I have quite a few wingers so giving up Chiasson is something I was able to do. Best of luck to Chicago with the players he aquired.

Confirmed trade.
Good luck to Ottawa. Nice negotiation process we had.
The old saying, you have to give up something to get something. We landed ourselves Monahan who we feel is going to be a force in the league in short order and Chiasson as well will be a fine addition to our wing core. We add two very young promising pieces to our club and also acquire another 1st round pick ( this gives us 4 1st's in 2014).
The Hawks are building the club as we feel we need to in order to sustain a high level of competitiveness year in and year out. This is just one step of many in the process. A strong foundation to a house is built piece by piece.
We aren't done. Expect more moves to be made.

any league member thoughts on this deal? Curious on some input. I'll check back later. I am offline for a few hours. BTW I sent a short list to Edmonton to pick for me if I come up soon, cannot guarantee im back in 4 hours.

short term Kadri has the upper hand, but with what scouts have said about Monahan comparing him to Eric Staal and Chiasson now having 2 ceters like Benn and Seguin i think Chicago has the upper hand in this deal

Well hard for me to review bc i dont hae many picks in this years draft so i havent done my research so much on these guys yet. I hear good things though that he will be a stud but not sure on his NHL time table just yet. I tend to lean towards the now and kadri i like. Puts up good numbers and good FOW.
Bu like you said u picked up some great top end prospect talent as well as another first rounder for next yr. that alone is great trade bait if needed to add what u want.
Overall i think it was a wash. What eah team needed and wanted. More now vs long term.
