Islanders sends:
Patrick Sharp Igor Bobkov
WPG (Alexander Vasyunov) sends:
Matt Calvert Matt Puempel 2nd Round Prospect Pick 2012 (STL - Formerly Washington)
Explaination:
I turned down 2 1sts from another GM because I'm really a big fan of Puempel and think that his transition to the NHL will be quicker than most his age. I also get Calvert whom I'm still a firm believer that can reach 50 points on a yearly basis if in the proper situation and Sharp isn't getting any younger. He's not old, but I don't see his game improving at this point in his career. This is a good long term deal for me, considering my team is horrible.

Go ahead and act like I didn't put a trade block up with his name in it ages ago. We see this every trade, if you would have offered that much more, then you probably should have initiated talks...not to mention offering anything significantly better than the offer I got from WPG makes you look dumb.

Actually Your comment doesnt make sense bc i wasnt even in trade talks with you regarding sharp. Didn't want him bc I thought my team was out of it. So that wasn't what I was getting at. Just don't have te belief in Calvert that you do. Espciallh on the team he is on. Justsaying you comment on every trade so I was just looking for the explanation that we put in the rules. The wow part was my reaction to that trade.

I get NYI's rationale, but i also understand NJ's wow. I would have thought a proven player of Sharp's pedigree would have easily brought NYI a player that can help him win now as well as a younger player (prospect/pick). Bobkov being packaged with him would have cemented that player(s)/prospect(s)coming back to him, jmo.

Well thanks for the bash NJ! Makes me feel good to know someone else can fill my shoes when I make a trade! And I do hear you guys, didn't at first, but I get it. But it's not like Calvert's the main piece coming my way. Puempel is.

* Trade denied * due to the increased likelyhood of tanking. NYI and WPG, please check your PMs.

Yeah not sure the comments but I don't see any tanking issues here. Nyis has been pretty decent and smart with any trade talks we had. Just thought this trade was a bit off balanced but defenty no tanking problems. And also without his first that doesn't make sense. Should stay out of it but since I made the comment to lead to questions figured I'd explain where I am coming from.

I just want to make sure everything is cleared up, so I don't undermine a GM

Ya it's fallen through, but I really want Puempel so for me to trade him to you would have to match this at least.

Correction... my bad, gentlemen. I thought NYI had his 1st intact, but he doesn't. If he would have had it intact, it would have posed concern from my standpoint of a possible tank job by trading a highly rated player and not receiving a player that can help him win now while still having his 1st for '12.
NYI, please check your PM. The trade can be drawn up on Yahoo, and i'll pass it. Again, sorry for the mixup.

I think it's only fair that I agree to the original trade guys. Sorry for the confusion.
