Buffalo makes this trade to gain a top 25 scorer, and an elite winger. Dobber ranks him at #42 of his top 300, and many other sites rank him in the 30s, with good reason as he's had three straight 30-goal seasons, followed up by last year's almost a point-per-game pace. Buffalo had three starting goalies and was looking to add an elite level forward, so Miller was able to bring that in. It leaves me with Niemi and Varlamov, and while Niemi is an elite goalie, Varlamov will definitely be moving up to the middle tier (or higher) soon as Colorado can't get any worse, has a deadly top 6, and he's only 25 years old.
