Buffalo makes this trade to improve my prospects/draft and gain a very valuable asset in a 1st round pick. Stalock is somewhat expendable, though I liked having him in case of a Niemi injury (*please don't get injured now*)

I confirm.

As a rebuilding team, it's never easy parting with a first rounder. But I had six of them over the next three years, so I was willing to let one go to help out my dreadful goalie situation. Stalock is only 26, and I like what I've seen from him this year in SJ. I'd rather roll the dice on him than drafting an 18 year old goalie and then waiting 5 years to see what I have. And the pick coming back to me will be in the top 60, so a 2nd rounder in the deep 2015 draft. All in a all, a very fair trade I believe.
