to BUF:
Bobby Ryan
to MTL:
Peter Celharik Bogdan Yakimov 2015 3rd Round Pick (via NSH)
From my perspective, Ryan is a solid scoring winger with potential reached at the 25-30 G plateau and limited usefulness in other categories. I am not expecting to win in 2014-15, so I positioned myself for a couple years down the road with 2 well regarded prospects and a solid pick in a deep draft class.

Booooo....No commish review needed, gents. Dave seems very intelligent about hockey. I think he knows what he's doing.

In the interest of the league, I'm going to ask these two GMs to go back on the drawing board with this one. I am familiar with every player who was sent each way. No way can a player of Ryan's ilk not bring back just as good a damn good NHLer or one close to PLUS. It's okay to win or lose a trade, but this is ridiculous.

Ryan's ilk? Meaning what? He doesn't take faceoffs or kill penalties, he doesn't hit or block any shots and he's a 0.68 PPG guy over the past 3 seasons.
He's coming off a surgery and headed towards a contract that will surely see him overpaid for 2015-16.
Ryan sat on my trade block for a week and 1 other person casually inquired at best.
Both guys I picked up have climbed up scouting charts and team prospects watch sites. That 3rd round pick could be used on a mid 2nd rounder from the actual NHL draft if it's in the 40s of our draft.

NJD - I guess the niceness of the dispersal draft has worn off quickly. I absolutely got back to you. I said you were light on young talent since you had clearly stocked up on win-now type guys. I then mentioned Kulikov and you resisted so I let it go. You made no mention of any of your players on offer, you just named my trade block basically and said you had interest in a few of my better guys.

All points I do not disregard David. But you'll be hard-pressed to find another GM who will agree that this is not a lopsided trade, even with our cats. You may not have received offers before, but I guarantee you'll get them now!! You and Buf can still work something out, but he'll be in tough after people see this.

Sorry but this is just a revolting trade, no offense Dave but to move Ryan you should be getting back a Strome and/or a Kucherov and maybe even a pick. Everyone keeps throwing around the word "parity" for our league but this trade is the exact opposite.

Revolting? Ok that's hyperbole if I've ever heard it.
Ryan is a 2 category player who's had 3 average seasons in a row at best.
Nobody here is giving up their best prospect for him.

Dave,
With the recent trade freeze the trade blocks sometimes don't get a lot of attention.
When you are shopping a top 50 talent like Ryan you need to shop him hard.
You will get some great offers IMO.
