but see that's not 4 hours that is 12 hours which is 8 hours more than everyone else gets to make their picks
so how is it fair to everyone else if some are getting 12 hour picks while they get 4 hour picks

Wow HP, thats pretty cool of you to do that, Fantrax membership is expensive... im not questioning the longevity of this league and i think the more things the league irons out together will help us in the future. I would not have left in MTLs situation but thats his decision. And im not suggesting that we change rules mid draft either. Obvioulsy this is all stuff we can look at come the next draft. I just think its unfortunate to loose a member over a situation like this.

One last thing about this draft and times - NYI in HK with a 12hr time difference, etc. There are numerous inconveniences...some have a hard time w/ a 4hr clock. For others, something else. Some may recall that I polled everyone on a draft date. I picked a dste that worked for EVERYONE'S VACATION schedule. People didn't like it because it was BEFORE the draft. I made the decision for the greater good of the league to my own detriment as this draft is taking place on my vacation and wedding anniversary. We are all sacrificing. I'm still logging on here trying to help Edm. So, considering this from my own angle as well as seeing other sacrifice, I find the reasoning behind Mtl's departure offensive. I digress. What is done is done. I am moving on.

It forces me to stop everything and go on the recruiting trailand try to find a GM of our lofty standards...painfully not easy.

You make a good point Tyler, after this draft here we can try to find a way that works better for all the GM's in this league because I agree, the less turnover the better.

You would be accommodating the entire league, you never know whos pick will land in this time frame

I agree that we should change the rule. That being said MTL was totally selfish in his conduct.
MTL has a good team and we need to work on finding good GM to run the team.

I'm wondering about our league turnover also, as I've now been in this league for an entire lockout-shortened season.....
I may be wrong, but I THINK that 9 teams, for whatever reason it doesn't even matter, have had a new GM since this past December or so when I joined.
Is this the list? Philly, Calgary, NYR, NYI, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Buffalo (me), Washington, and now shortly Montreal. Did I miss anyone?
I felt we lost some seriously good quality GMs...maybe it's just unfortunate coincidence, or maybe there's something we can fix to keep the good GMa around somehow..

To be fair, Calgary's an original GM, and a couple of the other GM's chose to leave for personal reasons, not because of any league drama or anything like that. But, that said, I also worry at seeing this much turnover...

My 2 cents.
I know the MTL GM rather well and hes a very good GM. Hes one of the better I have ever played with. Very active and nice guy. However, his heart just was not in this league. Compared to other leagues I have played in with him, its quite clear that his heart was not in it.
Now regardless of that fact, I think we all can agree with Trevor's point (MTL) that running the clock during most people sleeping hours is a bit unrealistic. And yes, there is no major rush in the off season. However, regardless of that, rules were in place. And preparing short lists of who you would like to draft is always an option.
The fact that Trevor split is not a product of the rules IMO. Yes, it a rule disagreement was the final nail in the coffin. However, the fact that he left regarding a 5th round pick, in my eyes, means that there was something else going on.
