Oh sweet thanks man.... Reverse order works for me... I might personally choose a random order, but reverse makes sense too!

I would goes with 2 randomized orders for the prospect draft and pro draft.
As mentioned before, I think the 4 hr limit per pick is fine. Its good to have some sort of time limit. Odds are the 1st few rounds will go by very fast. Most people will probably not use 4 hrs to think of who they want.
My issue is when people tend to go over the 4 hrs, its usually because they can't get to a computer or something like that. And this is just more evident on weekends. I am sure we all have things to do and won't be by a computer all the time. For me personally, I am always near a computer during the weekdays but the weekends are hard to predict.
My proposal is to have a leeway on the weekends. People who are still around can continue to draft but when it comes to a person who say, doesn't draft within the 4 hrs. I propose to just wait until that person drafts. Obviously if you can give a heads up if you know you wont be able to access a computer for a day or 2, that would be great.
I don't like the idea of sending another GM your picks especially if you have to send a rather large list of players. Drafting requires somewhat of a response to what other GMs are doing during the draft (goalie runs, D runs etc).
Basically, drafting is probably one of the more fun things to do in a league and there is no real reason to rush ppl and penalize them for not being here. The idea that if you miss your pick, you'll have to pick @ the end of the round, simple put sucks. I think we are all adults here and we should be able to understand this and if someone is away or can't draft right away, we should be fine with this.
In short...
Yes there is a 4 hr limit but lets all ensure we don't have to skip people's picks. If you know you are away, please let us know. We can draft up until your pick and we can just chill for a bit.

yeah im with j2kim on this. i like fast drafts and i think we all signed up to be hyped and draft. so i dont see a problem in the first few rounds but after that and weekends i can see a slow down.
The problem with such a strick draft is if people start missing picks they get upset and sometimes abandon there teams all together.
So like j2kim said i say we stick with the 4hr window for the weekdays but on weekends friday at 5pm until sunday at 5pm i say we extend the window to give some wiggle room. maybe give a 12hr window instead. i mean i dont want to sit here waiting 2 days for someone to pick but an extended period of 12 to 24hrs isnt so bad.
like said we are all adults so if you can post that you will be away and its hard to make a list then ok post it and we can give you that wiggle room. OR try to provide lists. i will be open to taking lists and i wont open them until your pick. just post in the heading your teams name and next pick.
I wont be on friday till sat night (25hrs 8pm to 9pm) but otherwise always around checkin on my cell phone or computer. so yeah i like the tight 4hour window bc i want to get the draft completed in good time but a bit of wiggle room cant hurt for the weekends.

I might be okay with some leeway there, but two points: 1- REASONABLE time limit... some people can't get to a computer within four hours? Fair enough, but we also don't want to go the whole weekend just waiting for someone to make a pick... 2- There needs to be some accountability for missing picks... like if you're gonna miss a pick, you should have to inform the league beforehand, not just 'no call-no show'...
I feel like it should be possible for people to get to a computer within four hours, but I understand there are special circumstances...

I've always used the next highest point getter as per NHL.com as an auto selection for my pool members when they are past due on their pick. That way my pool members dont come to me as admin and say the draft is taking too long, but they also don't end up losing a valuable pick, and still get a decent player in return.
I can honestly say I understand how this might interfere with the integrity of the draft but it's always been the most fair solution I could come up with.

I agree.. if you know you will be away, its best to let either the commish or someone know ahead of time.... "no call-no show" isn't something I dislike as well.
Like I may be away this weekend Fri-Sun, not 100% sure, so I would tell someone once I know for sure. And either send a list (which I dislike very much) or draft till my pick and just relax lol.

this also gives alot of time to do trades. suually people have all offseason to mold there teams we will only have a month and a half. with 20 gms i expect alot of back and forths with trades. My thoughts exactly. The second guys sit down and really look at their teams, the trades will start flowing. ^Exactly... I would rather hurry a little now and get the draft done than draft at the last minute and have no time to work my lineup... One question though, I know we're randomizing the draft order, but I was wondering if we are gonna randomize a second time for the prospect draft? It seems like a pretty big advantage for one person to have the first pick in both the pro draft and the prospect draft... If some lucky bugger happens to win both 'lotteries', then so be it, but I feel like it should be a different order at least... Thoughts? Either way works for me. I actually like this idea if we run into some people no showing more then they should. Point total or point per game total?

Excellent discussion, guys. How 'bout we extend the window on weekends to 8 hours. I, too, don't want someone milking it per se', but that should be ample leeway.
It boils down to communication. And if someone has to go to work, a wedding or something like that, we can wait. The draft isn't a life/death situation. However, time is valuable, and it sucks to be committed, checking in all day only to see someone milking. Granted, there will be times when we'll need to use the entire clock, but i've been involved with some that develop the bad habit of making others wait for long durations of a day, and that's simply not cool. We can respect people's lives by PM'g myself, the TM's and the person who is after you if this example ends up being you.
With all of this said, we need time limits to reinforce, and keep things moving, and also add some predictability for people to gauge when their pick may be up.

Are we doing any draft pick trading?

Are we doing any draft pick trading? Not for the first year. Basically, I think the rule is no trades until the Inaugural draft and prospect draft are complete. Is this accurate?

Question regarding the Yahoo Head to Head point system:
I've never used the Head to Head style with Yahoo, so I am wondering if when PTS are compared, does it go by entire team (aka Forwards + Defense) or is it split into 2 categories (Forward pts, defense points).
My understanding is that its all of your teams points scored combined vs all of your other teams point combined (and so forth for G and A's as well), which would make sense, but I wanted to double check because it could greatly effect how I use the 5th pick tomorrow morning.

Just to be clear: Can we trade our "Inaugural Draft" picks? If so, I wouldn't mind moving out of the 3rd spot.
